Katie was excited about getting the job in January, halfway through the school year. She spent a large portion of her December holiday preparing the classroom to which she’d been assigned. Katie cleaned out closets, redecorated, and created marvelous lesson plans to greet her students. When we returned from the holiday break, Katie’s first day went smoothly. There were no problems until lunch, when Monique frantically searched through the file cabinet in Katie’s classroom to find a paper plate and utensils.
