Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria today chaired a meeting with the Chancellor’s nominees of Cotton University who hold responsible positions in the Executive Council, Academic Council, and Court members at the Raj Bhavan.
During the meeting, the Governor shared his vision to standardize and strengthen the governance and functioning of the university for improved academic outcome. During the meeting, the Governor maintained that the nominees for Chancellor should promote and endorse exemplary practices aimed at advancing the cause of higher education.
He also said that the nominees are expected to serve as agents of positive transformation within universities, both in terms of academic and extracurricular achievements.
The Governor underscored the crucial role that the chancellor’s nominees can play in shaping the quality of higher education institutions. He emphasized their significant responsibility in fostering a positive atmosphere within the university, thereby enhancing the efficacy for the betterment of the higher education institutions. The Governor also reiterated the need for the Chancellor’s nominees to advocate best practices and offer constructive suggestions for continuous improvement.
The meeting also discussed a host of issues with regard to administration of Cotton University. The Governor during the meeting also asked the nominees of the Executive Council and Academic Council to carefully examine the selection processes, including the screening of candidates and the constitution of the selection committee.
Advisor to the Chancellor’s Secretariat Prof. Mihir K. Chaudhuri, Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor S. S. Meenakshi Sundaram and other key officials from Raj Bhavan were present at the meeting.
